Future Commerce

I attended the 2018 Future Commerce Expo (2018 未來商務展) in Taipei Expo Park (花博公园) with a theme of “Beyond Boundary” and enterprises exhibit new business models that integrate new business models of industries, technologies, such as A.I., big data, cloud, AR, VR, MR, blockchain etc. unfortunately, I did not see anything impressive to compete with Alipay and other ecommerce platforms/tools prevailing in China. 

I then attended the R&D showcases by  Institute for Information Industry(資訊工業策進會) a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO)  supporting the development/applications of the information industry as well as the information society in Taiwan. Clearly, Taiwan's competency is based on advanced/smart manufacturing, and has a lot to do to float over the IOT ocean.

Lunch Near Taipei Botanical Garden.

I had lunch with my old colleges of Board of Foreign Trade, and caught up with everyone's life and health issues.  I then toured the Taipei Botanical Garden.   The 15-acre Botanical Garden includes over 1,500 plant species and provides a lot of shades from the hot sun in 32c. I found out two buildings historical structures: a Qing Dynasty era Taiwan administration building relocated into the Garden and a herbarium, in the Garden which I did not notice when painting there many time at junior high.

I travel overseas 2-3 months each year to experience multicultural life.  Most recent 2.5 month AU/NZ/SI/TW (March-May, 2018). My trip highlights include (1) Glow-worm caving on north island NZ; (2) digging and soaking in hot water holes on a beach on north island NZ; (3) took Tongariro Alpine Crossing day hike on north island NZ; (4) touring Lake Wanaka to Queenstown on south island NZ; (5) touring Dunedin & Oamaru on south island NZ; (6) hiking and wild life viewing in Wilsons Promontory National Park, AU; (7) costal walks near Sydney, AU; and (8) 3500km drive to Uluru/Alice’s Rock, AU. Met My Croatia travelmate in suburb Sydney

I finally managed to reunion with my travelmate who I toured Hvar Island in Croatia in 2015 on motorbikes，and we walked the Bicentennial Coastal Walk - Narrabeen Beach to Warriewood Beach, and parts of the Narrabeen Lagoon bush trail in the suburb of Sydney. It was overcast but I can image how pretty the views would be in a sunny day.  https://www.weekendnotes.com/narrabeen-lagoon-bush-trail-walk/ My friend pays $2000 rent for one-bed room apartment within 100 feet from the beach, while i stay in a hostel dorm bed in downtown at $28 per night. Cost of living is high in Sydney for all it has to offer. As another example, without. The beach parking cost Monday to Friday - $6 an hour or $10 all day Weekends - $26 all day.  I went back to city center to check out the china town. I waited 15 minutes in line to taste this popular freshly made puff and had Thai BBQ beef rice for dinner.
