Kings Canyon

After the 7 am sunrise viewing of the Uluru Rock (Ayers Rock), we drove to Valley of the Winds, Kata Tjuta which is a collection of 36 variously-sized rock domes 36km to the west of Uluru. Some geologists believe that once it may have been a monolith far surpassing Uluru in size, but that it eroded to several separate bulks of rock.

Our destination of day is King's Canyon formed from millions of years of erosion and the main attraction of the Watarrka National Park wit domes formations, sharp cliffs, and good views of the surrounding desert. We arrived in a hot afternoon, so we took the 2-hr easier south rim walk to be close to the canyon cliffs and the domes, with magnificent views. We also took the King Creek walk at the bottom of the canyon, with various panels explaining about local birds that was unfortunately half closed, so we did not see the creek water.

We stay at the Non-powered campsite ($20 per person) of King's Canyon Resort which has a restaurant and a general store asking prices 3-4 times of major cities. I woke up at 7 pm to see the sunrise of king 's Canyon, and saw a wild dog like animal kingo.
