Downtown Dunedin
We checked in a hostel in downtown, returned the rental car, and then walked in the city, such as the city center shaped like an Octagon instead of the standard square.
St. Paul's Cathedral, Town Hall, St. Joseph's Cathedral, Knox Church, and the famous 100+ yr old Robert Burns statue. The statue was cast by a notable sculptor of Edinburgh, Scotland. This same sculptor made four other, nearly identical, statues, one of which rests in Central Park, New York.
We then walked uphill to Olveston House Otago Museum, and the Otago University which has some great old buildings to wander about and see, a lot of Asian eateries nearby. We had a nice ice cream break there.
Not very long ago, whaling was a huge industry. They used whale oil before petroleum was plentiful.
